Dermatology: skin tumours & moles ~ a diagnostic atlas

This diagnostic atlas contains hundreds of images showing the diverse appearances of benign and malignant skin tumours.
Malignant lesions include basal cell carcinoma (BCC), squamous cell carcinoma (SCC), and melanoma.
Benign lesions include melanocytic naevi, seborrhoeic keratosis, solar keratosis, dermatofibroma, epidermal naevi and papillomas, cutaneous horns, and pyogenic granuloma.
Skin cysts and lipoma are also covered, with a final chapter on treatment complications.

In many books on skin tumours, images are restricted to a few examples of any particular lesional type.
In practice, however, specific skin tumours appear in a great variety of guises, and benign lesions can often be mimicked by malignant lesions.

By presenting a large variety of clinical appearances for a given lesional type, and a number of similar-looking-but-histologically-distinct lesions alongside each other, close comparisons of different clinical conditions can be made.
Such an approach emphasises how clinical appearances may be misleading to the unwary.

This work is an updated and extended edition of the highly-acclaimed hardback Skin Surgery in general practice ~ A Diagnostic Atlas.
It will be of great benefit to anyone who deals with skin lesions, especially doctors in primary care and dermatologists. It will also be a valuable tool for medical students and nurses.

 Surgical techniques

Tech
This book covers all the minor surgery techniques that primary care practitioners need to be familiar with, in order to deal with the diverse conditions commonly seen in their patients.

It includes local anaesthetics, incision techniques and dissection techniques, suture techniques, diathermy and electrocautery, and cryotherapy.

Every topic is lavishly illustrated with diagrams, clinical images and demonstration videos.

This work will be of great benefit to doctors in primary care, dermatologists, clinicians working in minor injuries units, and medical students.

Surgical procedures

ProcThis book covers all the minor surgery procedures that primary care practitioners need to be familiar with, in order to deal with the diverse conditions commonly seen in their patients.

It is extensively illustrated with diagrams, clinical images and demonstration videos.

This volume covers diverse procedures including cryotherapy of skin lesions, punch biopsy and excision biopsy, excision of cysts and lipomas, temporal artery biopsy, toenail surgery, and sclerotherapy of thread veins.

This work will be of great benefit to doctors in primary care, dermatologists, doctors working in minor injuries units, and medical students.

Dermoscopy: melanoma, moles & skin tumours
~ a diagnostic atlas

In this book, unlike most other books on dermoscopy, the majority of lesions are shown with the naked-eye, magnified and dermoscopic views alongside each other.

Since the dermoscopic features should always interpreted in the context of the history and clinical findings, this unique approach allows the dermoscopic details to be readily correlated with the clinical appearances.

The dermoscopic features of benign moles, melanoma, basal cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma, solar keratosis, seborrhoeic keratosis, dermatofibroma, vascular lesions, and warts, are all included in this book.

In addition, since in some instances there are significant differences between images using polarised and non-polarised dermoscopy, a number of lesions are shown using both techniques.

The final chapter provides an interesting and useful opportunity for readers to test their diagnostic skills on a variety of lesions.

This work will be of great benefit to primary care doctors, dermatologists and medical students.

Steroid injections

Steroid
This extensively-illustrated volume covers all the soft-tissue and joint conditions that physicians will commonly encounter in primary care.

Soft tissue injections include tennis elbow, golfer’s elbow, tenosynovitis, tendinitis, trigger finger, carpal tunnel, painful heel, painful ligaments, sacroiliac joint strain, and bursae. Joint injections include the thumb carpometacarpal joint, wrist joint, elbow joint, shoulder joint, knee joint and ankle joint.

Throughout this book, each condition is described and illustrated with a clinical picture, X-rays (where appropriate), the surgical anatomy, and the injection technique.

In addition, carpal tunnel injection is demonstrated in a video.

Despite the continuing ongoing debate regarding the use and efficacy of depot steroids, steroid injections continue to have a definite place in the management of a number of soft tissue and joint conditions.

This work will be of great benefit to primary care doctors, dermatologists and medical students.

Dermoscopy: the alternative atlas

Alternative atlas

This book (free to download) is a light-hearted celebration of other-interesting-images-that-have-been-taken-with-a-dermoscope.

It aims to help practitioners have some fun while applying and developing their skills in dermoscopy.

Initially, each image is shown without any diagnosis.
One click reveals a comment in which the image is loosely interpreted as if the subject is a real skin lesion seen dermoscopically.
Once the reader has had an opportunity to appreciate the image, another simple click reveals the naked-eye view of the actual, non-medical subject.

This work will be of interest to anyone who uses a dermoscope.
